Eggless Chocolate cake (without oven) recipe

Chocolate Cake

So this is my first blog about my food recipes. No better way to start the blog other than the new year cake recipe. Yes I have prepared it for new year 2014 but little late in posting the recipe! so here you go with the eggless-chocolate cake-without oven recipe, hope you like it! 


Preparation time - 30 mins
Cooking time - 40-45 mins 
Quantity - 10 servings approx.

Ingredients for the cake:


Dry ingredients: 
atta/Multigrain atta/whole wheat flour - 2 cups
unsweetened cocoa powder - 5 tablespoons
baking powder - 1 1/2 tablespoons
baking soda - 1/2 tablespoon
salt - 1/2 tablespoon
sugar - 2 cups powdered
all purpose flour/maida - 1 tablespoon approx.

wet ingredients:

vanilla essence - 1 tablespoon
hot brewed coffee/decoction - 1/4 cup
curd - 1 cup
flavourless cooking oil/unsalted cooking butter - 3/4 cup
medium ripe bananas - 2 mashed
honey - 2 tablespoons

Cake Recipe:

1. Add curd and oil/butter into a bowl and start beating it till you achieve a proper mixture.
2. To this, add 2 tbsps honey, mashed bananas, coffee decoction and mix well.
3. In another bowl, sift together atta/whole wheat flour, powdered sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder.
4. Now add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients slowly and mix together and check to avoid any lumps.
5. Now grease an aluminium vessel with butter and powder it with maida.
6. Pour the cake mix into this vessel.
7. Place a tawa/pan on the stove with high heat. Keep the empty pressure cooker (without any water) on top of this tawa and close the lid (without washer and whistle). Let it get heated for atleast 5 minutes.
8. Now keep the aluminium vessel (without any lid) with cake mix inside the cooker, close the cooker lid (again without washer and whistle) and adjust the heat to medium flame. 
9. Let it bake for around 20 minutes and then keep checking till the cake is done. The cake is done when your knife comes out clean if you place it inside the cake and take it out.
10. Once the cake is done, remove it from the flame and let the cake cool completely before you apply any frosting to it.

Ingredients for lemony-butter icing:

unsalted cooking butter - 1 cup
powdered sugar - 2 cups sifted
vanilla essence - 1 tablespoon
fresh cream - 3-4 tablespoons
lemon rind - 1 tablespoon

Icing recipe:
1. Beat butter and vanilla essence till it is smooth and fluffy
2. To this add the sifted sugar in smaller amounts and beating it each time till it's mixed well with the butter mixture
3. Add the fresh cream and adjust the consistency of the icing mixture till it is spreadable
4. Add fresh lemon rind and mix well.








Personal touch :)
1. Here I have prepared two separate cakes to get a layered cake
2. Apply frosting on top of one cake and place the second cake on top of it
3. Apply the remaining frosting to the complete layered cake
4. To get the final look as shown in the picture, I have used two oranges (as ears), two grapes (as eyes), two almonds (as nose), 1 tablespoon jam (as lips) and some melted chocolate (as hair) :)
